That explains it: A cable and Internet outage in the West Virginia Panhandle was caused by someone cutting the main fiber optic line running along the railroad tracks, Sunday. Railroad employees spotted the cut line and a pair of red-handled bolt cutters along the tracks.
Can't stay away: A woman returned to her estranged husband's home despite a court order banning her from being near him or the residence, Sunday. The man said she randomly shows up at his home and refuses to leave "and by the time he knows she is there he cannot get to his phone because she will know." He said this time, when he got home, he discovered she'd stolen his battery jump box, prescription glasses, gold jewelry and medication. He said she comes to the house when she knows he's not there and either climbs through windows or uses a key she never gave back to get in. On Monday a neighbor reported hearing a gun shot and seeing the man's estranged wife running away from the house.
Domestic dispute: A woman told 9-1-1 dispatcher her husband was trying to kill her and hung up, Monday. Her husband was in the driveway when the deputies arrived and told them he and his wife had argued because she was drinking. He said he took her "jug" away from her, which he said was actually a bottle of gin, and put it in the refrigerator, and when it wasn't where she left it the situation excalated. He advised he "backed her up" because she was coming at him and he had to defend himself, telling police he'd "probably consumed three beers" himself. Deputies said his wife had bruises on her face and arms that she claimed were caused by falls. She initially denied a physical altercation but eventually admitted he was angry because she'd been drinking "and they began to wrestle around."
Sibling rivalry: Siblings involved in a domestic dispute on state Route 151, Mingo Junction, each accused the other of causing the problems, Sunday. The head of the household wanted her removed, telling deputies the girl had only been there a couple days because she was homeless but "all she does is lie and cause problems." Her brother claimed she stole one of his CDB edibles and when he confronted her, they argued, and she started throwing things and broke the glass in the front door. He said he put his hands on her shoulders and "gently" forced her out the door so she wouldn't break anything else, but the arguing continued and he ended up throwing her vape pen across the yard and dousing her with a bucket of water. She yelled at him and he "took (her) stuff from (her) hand and threw it almost in the creek." When she went to grab it, she said he threw her old weed grinder at her face and then pushed her to the ground.
Illegal dump: A Bloomingdale man told deputies someone dumped chemicals in a pond on his family's property, Monday. Deputies said they saw a small amount of oil on a concrete area where a culvert runs from the pond, but there were no tire tracks.

Playing chicken: An Oak Grove Avenue resident wanted a relative to leave his home, Monday. He refused to say anything more so they spoke with the relative, who said she was visiting them and an argument ensued over another family member's death. She said the homeowner's wife asked her to leave and she did, but as she was going, she claimed the homeowner's wife threw a glass at her and pointed to a small cut on her finger and foot, advising that she wanted to pursue charges. The homeowner's wife said as she was showing the relative out she stuck her finger in the relative's face and the relative grabbed it, so they scuffled. She admitted throwing the glass once the relative walked off her porch and told police she didn't want to pursue charges, but she did want the relative to leave. When they told the relative she needed to leave the area to prevent the situation from escalating she refused, telling police "these streets are public," so officers told her if she refused she would be charged with the assault. Police said she still wouldn't leave so she was handcuffed and put into the rear of a cruiser, at which point she told them she would leave the area. She was told she shouldn't return.
That's low: A resident in the 700 block of Granard Parkway said his children were selling lemonade in front of his house and two male juveniles wearing red and green shirts "came and ran off" with their money, Monday. He said their plastic cash register had $190 in it.
