Dance party: Employees at a city business requested a welfare check on a woman who they feared was under the influence of drugs, Tuesday. The woman said "she was flailing her arms and dancing around in attempts to cheer up her daughter, who is blind," police said. Police said she "became belligerent" when they told her she needed to leave the store and not return.
Long goodbyes: Police caught two people in the back seat of a car parked in the rear of the Belleview Pool upper lot, Tuesday. The two were sleeping and told police they were college students and with classes done, "wanted to spend their final evening together" before going home. Police said the two were their of their own volition, so they told them the park closed at dark and they would have to leave.
Cited: Neighbors made it clear to police they're fed up with a dog belonging to a woman in the 800 block of Rosswell Avenue running loose and barking, Tuesday. Residents advised the dog "continues to run loose through the neighborhood and is becoming a nuisance," barking constantly. Another resident also said the dog is always getting loose, "bothering people on their property and barking loudly at all hours." One resident told police the dog's owner had "cursed her out" prior to their arrival. Police spoke with the dog's owner for the second day in a row and said she admitted her dog had gotten out of the yard by jumping a fence. Police said while they were investigating "several citizens in the neighborhood expressed their dissatisfaction and annoyance with (her) dog running loose and excessive barking." Ellen E. Still, 47, 825 Rosswell Ave., was cited for dog-at-large and warned she'll continue to be cited until the problem is resolved, police said.
Ride share: Someone called 911 for a citizen assist in the 2800 block of Sunset Boulevard, Tuesday. Police said a man there told them he needed a ride to Follansbee. They told him to call a taxi because 911 is for emergencies.
Mother-daughter blues: A McDowell Avenue woman told police her mother woke her up in the early morning hours to help her find her phone and they ended up arguing, Tuesday. She said at some point her mother grabbed her by the neck and choked her, and police noted her neck was red and scratched. They located her mother nearby and said she appeared intoxicated "based on her being unsteady on her feet, her slurred speech and the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from her." She claimed her daughter had refused to clean her room and when they started arguing, beat her up. She had scrapes on her hands and face that were bleeding and claimed to be in a lot of pain, and denied choking her daughter "but did state her hands may have been on (her daughter's) neck during their argument. Her daughter denied assaulting her mother and said she had the injuries prior to their argument. Neither of them wanted to pursue charges.
Hasn't delivered: A Laila Court resident told police he gave a contractor $7,800 to do work at his home seven months ago but he's never shown up, Tuesday. He said the man was supposed to start the work in November but told him he couldn't because of the weather and rescheduled for March, but now March has passed and he's still a no-show. He said materials were delivered over the winter, but the contractor hasn't done any work, isn't returning his calls and already cashed his check.
Big split: A Ridge Avenue resident said she's being harassed by a former friend, Monday. She said she's block the woman on all social media platforms, so she's using TextNow app to text her, including one threatening that, "I'm gonna smack your face off."
Targeted: A resident in the 2500 block of Lafayette Boulevard said someone flattened her tire overnight, Tuesday. She said the vandal stabbed the sidewall of her tire several times.
Booked: Deana Gentile, 39, 101 Forrest Lane, Dillonvale, warrant for failure to appear, Monday; James C. Pruitt, 32, 129 Reichart Ave., petit theft and criminal trespass, Tuesday.
Code issues: A notice of violation was sent to the owner/occupant of properties at 336 Lovers Lane, high weeds/grass.

Issues: An Adena woman told 911 dispatchers someone was kicking her door in, and when deputies located her she told them her boyfriend had done it, Monday. She said they'd been fighting, telling deputies when he drinks "she cannot put up with his behavior and attitude" and it's become an ongoing issue. She said they'd been arguing, and when he went outside to smoke, she locked both doors. Other than him kicking the door, she told them there had been no violence and she didn't want to pursue charges. He said the woman "is constantly accusing him of cheating" and said he had to force entry so he could gather some of his belongings and leave for the night. Deputies said both door frames were damaged, and since they've been living together for several months they told the woman how to obtain a protection order and have him evicted if she feels the need.
Robbed: A house on Township Road 378, Steubenville, was burgled, Monday. The owner said his son came home to find the garage door was open and someone had opened doors and drawers, then discovered his bedroom light was on and his closet door was open. The homeowner said nothing was missing from his son's room, but his wife's jewelry box containing three rings, a wedding band and engagement ring plus a necklace and earring set were missing. Also stolen were a Craftsman electric leaf blower, Dewalt cordless drill and two sets of drill bits and an envelope with $2,040 in cash that had been tucked inside one of the drill bit boxes, he said.
Kids causing problems: An Adena woman told deputies "four masked men … pounded really hard on her doors and windows" and then ran across the road, and said she heard them laughing when she said she was calling police, Monday. She said the four appeared to be juveniles, telling deputies they fled on foot toward Dove Avenue and West Main Street. She said three of them were wearing black hooded sweatshirts and the fourth had a white hoodie on, and said they'd had the same problem last year. The kids were nowhere to be found when deputies searched the area.
