Police reports

Steubenville police

Hit and run: Rural King employees said they watched a woman leave the store Sunday with what appeared to be merchandise concealed in her coat. They said the woman jumped in a silver pickup and appeared to be pulling items out of her clothing as she left the scene.

No say: Two women who’d been evicted from their home in Steubenville said the landlord had given them permission to go through their things, but the garage where he was storing them was padlocked. While they were trying to get in the store room a man now living at the residence came out, yelling that it was “his property” and telling them to leave. The man said he had a key to the garage but would not allow the women to use it to unlock the building. Police had the women contact the landlord, who said he was on his way there to unlock it. The landlord told police the male doesn’t have any say in who gets in the garage or what is stored there.

Checking in: A caller requested a welfare check on a man possibly being held against his will and threatened with a knife if he attempted to leave a Hollywood Boulevard residence Sunday. Deputies said when they checked the residence, the front door was open slightly and entry appeared to have been forced. No one was inside the residence, they said.

Accident: Yancy A. Mosley, 37, 217 Wahoo Road, Summersville, S.C., was cited for failure to control after the trailer of his semi truck struck a traffic crossing signal Friday.

Cut: Police responding to a disturbance in the 800 block of North Sixth Street Friday located a female with lacerations to her thighs and back. She was taken to the hospital for evaluation. Police said she didn’t want to pursue charges.

Hit-skip: The driver of a silver SUV traveling south on Adams Street failed to yield Saturday and struck the rear of another vehicle, causing it to spin, before the driver fled the scene.

Cited: Shirley J. Newburn, 31, 136 Meadow Road, Wintersville, failure to obey a traffic control device; Deondre Banks, 22, 401 Dresden Ave., driving under suspension and display of plates.

Two-parter: An Island Creek township resident told police a female she’d allowed to stay at her apartment and a male she’d invited over entered a part of the apartment Sunday where they weren’t permitted, taking several items that belonged to her and damaged several others. Before they left the apartment, the woman said they threatened her and her dog with knives and shoved her twice. The woman didn’t want to press charges against those two people, but she told police she was interested in filing a complaint against a man who had cut her clothes and shoved her twice Saturday.

Arrested: Shana M. Tittle, 31, 2074 county Road 2, Yorkville, charged Sunday with domestic violence. Tittle was taken into custody after deputies were alerted to a domestic dispute, and when they arrived on scene said they observed a man with bleeding and swollen lips, a scratch on his neck and broken glasses.
