FOLLANSBEE — Mr. and Mrs. James Piccirillo of Follansbee are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

Piccirillo and the former Janet Wynne Bird were married on June 2, 1973, at the Follansbee Christian Church, by the late Rev. John Barto.

He is the son of the late Steve and Lorane Piccirillo. The couple were lifelong educators. He was a principal in Hancock County for 25 years and Burgettstown for 8 years.

She is the daughter of the late Carma and Doris Bird of Follansbee. She was an English teacher at Brooke High School for 30 years,

They have one son, Steven, who resides in Kansas City, Mo., with his wife, Beth, and three children, Renee, Michelle and Travis.

The couple hosted a dinner June 1 at the Weirton Holiday Inn for members of their wedding party, family and close friends.
