Mr. and Mrs. David Velegol
COLLIERS — Mr. and Mrs. David Velegol of Colliers celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Velegol and the former Carolyn Kopson were married on June 5, 1963, at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Clarksburg, W.Va., by the Rev. John Duda.
He is the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Tokas) Velegol. His career was focused on energy as a mechanical engineer both with General Electric’s Flight Propulsion Division in Cincinnati and the Weirton Steel Corp.
She is the daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Smrek) Kopson. She was a homemaker after a brief career with the C&P Telephone Co.
The couple have four children: David Jr. (Lisa) of Follansbee; Sonja McCreary (Bryan) of Pittsburgh; Douglas (Darla) of Weirton; and Darrell (Stephanie) of State College, Pa. They have nine grandchildren and a great-grandson on the way.
Their celebration included a Mass at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Follansbee; a Mass at the Immaculate Conceptions Church in Clarksburg; a visit to their honeymoon site at Carter Caves Resort Park in Olive Hill, Ky.; a visit to Cincinnati; and a dinner hosted by their children with family and friends.
The couple resides in Colliers and Winter Haven, Fla.
