Weir tops the Panthers
WEIRTON — The Weir High baseball team used a six-run sixth to pull away from visiting Buckeye Local for a 12-6 victory at home Friday night.
The Red Riders got a triple, single and four RBIs from Evan Kaczmarek, while Jonathan Horstman had a double, single and two RBIs and Liam Williamson had a double and drove in two runs. Lucas McAllister struck out six in six innings on the mound for the win.
Wyatt Lyuster had three hits, including a double, and an RBI for the Panthers.
Edison blanks Minerva
RICHMOND — The Edison baseball team rolled to an 11-0, five inning win over Minerva at home on Friday.
Bryce Rogers had a triple, single and an RBI, Chase Freeman doubled and plated two runs, JD Henerson doubled, singled and plated a run and Kyle Long had two hits and two RBIs, while Brady Haught struck out nine on the mound.
Madonna wins ranked matchup
ELKVIEW — The No. 1 ranked Madonna baseball team went on the road to No. 9 Herbert Hoover on Friday and picked up a 4-1 victory.
Jacob Lazear had a triple, double and three RBIs, while David Connors had a double and two singles and Matt Geer doubled in a run for the Dons in their 18th win in 20 outings.
Geer fired the first four innings, while Connors earned a three-inning save.
