Big Red edges Dover in extras

DOVER — AJ Borsch’s RBI double in the top of the eighth inning broke a scoreless tie and lifted Big Red to a 1-0 victory on the road at Dover on Monday.

The win is Steubenville’s third-straight.

Borsch’s big hit was his second of the game. Matt Fabbro also had a double

Nolan Blackburn fired a gem on the mound, striking out two and walking just one in scattering five hits and going all eight innings for the complete game shutout.

Big Red, now 7-7, heads to Indian Valley today.

Weir High rolls at Beaver

CALCUTTA — The Weir High baseball team rolled to a 14-1 win on the road at Beaver Local Monday evening.

The Red Riders (8-13) got a homer and three RBIs from Lucas McAllister, three hits, including two doubles, and four RBIs from Teddy Glyptis, a double, single and an RBI from Cayden Braswell and two hits and an RBI from Jonathan Horstman.

McAllister fired three scoreless innings on the mound, striking out five without walking a batter.

Brooke out-slugs St. C

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Brooke baseball team opened a seven-run lead, saw St. Clairsville rally to tie the game, then the Bruins pulled away again for a 13-11 victory over the Red Devils on Monday.

Gino Provenzano had four hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs for Brooke (14-9), while Garrett Moore had two hits, a double, and three RBIs, Ty Sperringer had three hits and an RBI, Henry Anderson had three hits and two RBIs and Zac O’Mery hd two hits.

The Bruins travel to East Fairmont today.

Huskies top Oak Glen

NEW MANCHESTER — The Harrison Central baseball team had two five-run innings on the way to a 14-3 victory at Oak Glen on Monday.

The Huskies (10-5) got a double, triple and three RBIs from Lance Smith, four RBIs from Kayden Dunkle and a double, single and four RBIs from Hunter Snyder.

Lucas Zoellers had two RBIs for Oak Glen (9-14).

Toronto rolls at EL

EAST LIVERPOOL — Fresh off its OVAC title, the Toronto baseball team rolled to an 18-1 victory on the road at East Liverpool on Monday.

Cole Barcus had two hits and an RBI for the Knights, while Russ Dickinson had a double, single and an RBI and Michael Henry drove in three runs.

JCC gets a win

MINGO JUNCTION — The Jefferson County Christian baseball team defeated Tusky Central on Monday at home, 14-6.

The Royals (11-6) got a 3 for 3 day with a double and two RBIs from Carson Duvall, while Lee Gump tripled.

Gump worked 4 2/3 innings, while Aiden Howard was the winning pitcher in relief.

SOFTBALL

Toronto wins big

COLUMBIANA — The Toronto softball team plated 12 runs in the top of the second inning to break things open on the way to a 29-2 win at Heartland Christian on Monday.

The Red Knights (8-9) got five RBIs and three hits from Madison Asafailo, while Jaylee Brown and Lily Sapp each drove in three runs and Laney Danko, Isabelle Cattrell and Paige Creek each drove in two runs.

Creek falls at Park

WHEELING — Indian Creek rallied against Wheeling Park on Monday on the road but came up short, 9-5.

Rylee Sadler had a double, while Emma Vok had three hits and an RBI.
