Bruins edge East Fairmont in extra innings, 9-8
FAIRMONT — After rally from and early deficit, then seeing a couple of late leads get away, the Brooke baseball team made it wins on back-to-back days with a 9-8 extra innings victory on the road at East Fairmont on Tuesday evening.
It is the second-straight day the Bruins won a close game on the road.
The Bruins fell behind 3-1 before holding a 5-3 lead in the fifth and an 8-5 lead going to the bottom of the seventh.
The host Bees drove in three runs to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh and force another inning, but Brooke got an RBI groundout from Gino Provenzano in the top of the eighth inning and made it stand up for the victory.
The RBI was Provenzano’s fourth of the game.
Zac O’Mery had a triple, two singles and two RBIs.
Aiden Provenzano also finished with three hits, two doubles and a single.
Parker McMahon had a double and an RBI and was the winning pitcher in releif.
Henry Anderson also drove in a run.
Andrew Murdock struck out three in the first five innings on the mound.
McMahon wrnt the final three innings and struck out two without a walk.
Brooke is now 15-9 on the season and is scheduled be be back in action to take on Toronto on Thursday.
