Edison pulls away from Brooke for back-to-back wins to start season
WELLSBURG — The Edison softball team got off to a quick 2-0 start.
After defeating Brooke at home in the season opener on Saturday, the Wildcats made it two wins over the Bruins in as many games, going across the river and pulling away for a 10-1 victory.
Chloe Peckens led the way with a homer, a double and three RBIs, while Alli Shrieve tallied a pair of doubles an drove in a run and Mady Cornell had a double and an RBI for the Wildcats.
Leighnn Anderson fired four innings with just an unearned run against in the circle for Edison.
Brooke, which fell to 0-5 on the young season, got a three-hit day from Maggie Diserio, while Maia Diserio tallied a base hit and an RBI.
Emilee McKinney had three strikeouts in five innings in the circle.
Toronto falls to Linsly
TORONTO — The Toronto softball team dropped a game that was full of big innings, 19-7, to Linsly on Monday.
The Cadets had a the last big inning, plating nine runs in the top of the seventh to turn a three-run lead into a 12-run win.
Toronto, which had battled back within two with a five-run fifth, was led by a triple, double and single with three RBIs from Isabelle Cattrell, while Madison Asifailo drove in two runs.

Oak Glen tops Cameron
NEW MANCHESTER — The Oak Glen baseball team came from behind to down the visiting Cameron Dragons, 5-3, Monday night at home.
The Golden Bears trailed 3-1 going to the bottom of the sixth when they got the bats going for four runs.
Oak Glen, which improved to 2-3 with the win, got a triple, single and an RBI from Josh Maher, while Colt Hissam, Noah Willey, Christian Chappell and L Zoellers also drove in a run each.
Maher went the distance on the mound for the win, striking out six batters.
Brooke continues good start
GLEN DALE — The Brooke baseball team continued its strong start to the season with a 13-5 victory at John Marshall on Monday, it’s third straight victory which made the Bruins 3-1.
With the game tied through seven, the Bruins exploded for eight runs in the top of the eighth inning to pull away for the win.
Andrew Murdock had a hom run and a single, while Ty Sperringer plated three runs for the Bruins.
Gino Provenzano had an even bigger day at the plate with a double, two singles and four RBIs.
Murdock went the fist five innings, fanning three, while Provenzano got win in releif, fanning four in two innings.
