Creek’s McKenna Scott named second team All-Ohio

COLUMBUS — The first round of All-Ohio teams were released on Monday morning, and among them were nine local players.

The release of the annual All-Ohio teams, selected by a committee of members from the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association, began with girls basketball Divisions IV, V, VI and VII.

Chief among the locals recognized was Indian Creek senior McKenna Scott, who was named to the All-Ohio Second Team in Division IV.

Scott, who was named the Division IV, East District Player of the Year for a second year in a row, is now a two-time All-Ohioan as she was also a second team pick last season.

She helped Creek win their third-straight OVAC title, was OVAC championship game MVP for a third time, and helped the Redskins win the district championship and make a regional appearance.

She averaged 15.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists and four steals. She leaves the program second all-time in scoring and the all-time leader in assists and steals. She is signed to play softball collegiality at the Division I level at Perdue Fort Wayne.

Also recognized in Division IV was Creek teammate Kaydence Walker, who was an honorable mention selection after she averaged 11 points as a sophomore.

In Division V, two players from Harrison Central and one from Buckeye Local were recognized as honorable mentions.

From the Huskies, seniors Maddie Sedgmer (12.2 points) and Lauren Doane (9.3 points) were recognized along with Panthers senior Maddy Roset (10.2 points).

In Division VII, four local players were recognized. two each from Toronto and Catholic Central.

For the Crusaders, junior Mary Rohde was named a special mention after averaging a double-double with 11.2 points and 12.6 rebounds and sophomore Mara Delaney was an honorable mention after averaging 13.8 points.

For the Red Knights, senior Tatum Derrington, who averaged 12.4 points and 10.8 rebounds was a special mention, and sophomore Jayna Reeves (13.2 points) was an honorable mention.

The All-Ohio teams are based on nominations from the seven districts of the OPSMA, which vote on the all-district teams from regular-season accomplishments.

On Tuesday, the Divisions I, II and III girls basketball All-Ohio teams will be announced, followed by the boys basketball All-Ohio teams on Wednesday and Thursday.
