Harrison Central holds off the Wildcats for 42-38 victory
RICHMOND — Despite a strong fourth quarter from host Edison, the visiting Harrison Central girls basketball team was able to emerge victorious on Monday night, fending off the Wilscats for a 42-38 victory inside the Edison Fieldhouse.
The Huskies, now 9-5, led 15-7 after the first quarter and 26-20 at halftime. Harrison Central pushed ahead 36-25 going to the fourth, which proved to be enough to overcome Edison (11-3) out-scoring the visitors 13-6 in the final quarter.
The Huskies were led by Kara Blackburn with 12 points coming on four 3-pointers, while Lauren Doane netted eight points and racked up 14 rebounds and Maddie Sedgmer netted six points and had 10 rebounds.
For Edison, Abby Boka led the way with 17 points, Abby Carpenter netted nine points and Sophia Henderson tallied seven.
CCHS tops Brooke
WELLSBURG — The Catholic Central girls basketball team opened an early lead and did not look back on the way to a 54-15 victory on the road at Brooke on Monday night.
The Crusaders, now 7-4, were led by 13 points each from Natalie Cherepko and Mara Delaney, while Aurie Hoover netted eight points.
For Brooke, Marianna DiPaolo netted 10 points to lead the way.
Toronto tops Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT — The Toronto girls basketball team went south on Route 7 and rolled to a 55-26 road victory over Bridgeport.
The Red Knights are now 6-7 on the season.
Jayna Reeves netted 19 points to lead Toronto and Tatum Derrington also reached double digits with 13 points.

EL tops Harrison
CADIZ — The visiting Potters received 23 points from Nate Birch in rolling past the Huskies, 62-43.
Brycen Kamarec and Brady Elliott each scored 12 points for Harrison Central.
BOWLING
Brooke splits with Beaver
CALCUTTA — The Bruins received a 177 game and 347 series from Darion Hilton in defeating the Beavers, 1,893 to 1,681 in boys action. Seth Schroeder added a 178 game.
In girls action, the Bruins fell 1,402 to 1,330 as Kaylee Tuttle had a 307 series with games of 150 and 157.
