Creek gets a big bounce back win at Harrison
CADIZ — The Indian Creek girls basketball team’s slate of games against tough opponents continued as they returned to the court following the holidays, but this time they were able to break through.
Going on the road to take on Harrison Central, which had won four-straight games and entered with an 8-3 mark, the Redskins snapped a five-game skid and evened their record at 6-6 with an impressive 50-29 victory Thursday night in Cadiz.
Creek opened a 15-7 lead after one and led 29-18 at the break before pulling away further in the second half.
McKenna Scott led the way with 22 points, while Kaydence Walker followed close behind with 20 points.
For the Huskies, Maddie Sedgmer tallied 10 points and six rebounds to lead the way.
The win gives Creek a season sweep of the Huskies.
The Redskins are slated to host East Liverpool on Monday, while the Huskies will look to bounce back at Beaver Local on Monday.
Toronto falls on the road
NEWCOMERSTOWN — The Toronto girls basketball team dropped a 62-32 decision on the road at Newcomerstown on Thursday night.
Jayna Reeves led the Red Knights with 15 points, while Tatum Derrington finished with 10 points.
The Red Knights are now 4-6 and host Madonna on Monday for the second meeting between the teams this season.

Teams compete on senior night
STEUBENVILLE — It was senior night in the Big Red Natatorium for the first meet in 2025 on Thursday, and it was a good night in the pool for Indian Creek.
The Redskins won all four matchups in the head-to-head overall combined team scores, while getting four dual wins each in scoring on the boys and girls sides.
Edison’s boys got three wins, while Big Red’s girls got three dual wins as well.
Individual event winners from Indian Creek were Hailee Hixenbaugh (girls 200 free), Hunter Rusnak (boys 200 free), Caleb Zifzal (boys 50 free), Gabby Boyuck (girls 100 free), Allison Rawson (girls 500 free) and Josh Gampolo (boys 100 back), as well as two relay teams.
Big Red got event wins from Kinsey Tucker (girls 200 IM), Chandler Hoffman (boys 200 IM) and Kailyn Sperry (girls 100 back) as well as a relay team.
Edison got event wins from one relay team and Mazzy Speedy (girls 100 butterfly) and Micah Larkins (boys 100 brestroke).
Catholic Central’s Santi Descalzo topped the boys 100 free to give the Crusaders an event win.
