Oak Glen in the proccess of finding new football coach
NEW MANCHESTER — Oak Glen is seeking a new varsity football coach.
Before Christmas, coach Doug Taylor stepped down after going 4-26 over three seasons in charge of his alma mater.
“It just wasn’t a fit for him, so he decided to move on,” Oak Glen athletic director Julie Zoellers said. “There were no hard feelings.”
The Golden Bears went 1-9 in 2024 with the team’s only win coming over Tygarts Valley in the season finale. Oak Glen was outscored 362-80 in its nine-game losing streak to start the season.
The program hasn’t had a winning season since 2020 when it won two playoff games.
Oak Glen began collecting applications for the position on Jan. 24. Deadline to apply is today by midnight. Those interested can apply on the Hancock County schools web site under the employment tab.
Zoellers said the position already has eight applicants and the interview process will likely start next week.
Taylor was hired in Feb. 2022. He had previously led Weirton Madonna from 2011-2015 where he went 36-23 and won the 2013 Class A state championship.
