Toronto closes showcase with a win over Weir
TORONTO — The annual Todd Kalivoda Holiday Showcase was a successful one for the host Toronto Red Knights.
After getting a win the previous night, the Red Knights made it a sweep of their special event with a 75-62 victory over Weir High to close out two days of basketball.
Toronto led 25-16 after one and stayed in front after each or the next three quarters on the way to victory.
Leading the way was a monster night from Austin Buchanan with 35 points, including going 18 of 25 from the foul line.
Aiden Filby and Brady Fair each netter 13 to follow.
Anthony Jeffers also has a big night for Weir, finishing with 26 points, while Zotique Douglas tallied 17 and Justin Kaczmarek netted 15.
Crusaders get another win
NEW MANCHESTER — The Catholic Central boys basketball team is rolling.
The Crusaders followed up their victory Friday in the Watt/Nese Classic by going up to Oak Glen Saturday and making it wins on back to back days with a 55-41 victory over the Golden Bears.
Central is now 9-1 on the season.
Benji Rook had another big night for Central with 17 points, while Oak Glen was led by Tyler Evans 12.
