NEW MANCHESTER — Oak Glen’s boys basketball team got off to a fast start against Madonna on Friday night and carried it to a 61-45 victory over the Blue Dons.
With the victory, Oak Glen improves to 4-1, while Madonna falls to 0-3.
Will Weekley led the Golden Bears with 16 points, while Tyler Evans netted 14, Aidan Dawson tallied nine and Tyler Evans finished with eight.
For the Dons, Koleton Grishkevich had a big night in the loss finishing with a game-high 23 points, while Andre Crossland and Reed Wilharm each netted eight points.
The Golden Bears were slated to travel to Wellsville on Saturday, while Madonna was scheduled to battle Catholic Central in the Blue Collar Classic at Franciscan University on Saturday.
Brooke edges the Panthers
CONNORVILLE — The newly minted battle of the new Brilliant-Wellsburg bridge between Buckeye Local and Brooke Friday was a close battle that went to the Bruins, 53-50, in Connorville.
Andrew Murdock netted a game-high 26 points and four assists to lead the Bruins to their first victory of the season, while Grant Yost tallied 14 points and six rebounds.
The Panthers’ Haden Wilhelm netted 15 points and connected on three triples in the loss.
The teams meet again in Wellsburg in January.
The Panthers are slated to travel to Indian Creek on Monday before the holiday break. Brooke is scheduled to resume after Christmas against Columbiana Dec. 28.
