Wildcats claw Madonna 39-15

RICHMOND — The Edison girls basketball team got off to another good start to Thursday’s game and continued the good start to their season.

The Wildcats scored the first 16 points and did not look back on the way to downing visiting Madonna, 39-15, at home.

The victory improves the Wildcats to 5-1 through the first six games of the season.

Sophia Henderson had a big night to lead Edison, racking up 22 points, hitting three 3s in the process. She scored 13 of her points in the first quarter to help the Wildcats pull ahead for good.

Madonna senior Christany Bartley hit a pair of 3s to lead the Blue Dons with six points.

Edison is slated to visit Catholic Central on Monday, while Madonna is scheduled to travel to Magnolia on Saturday before a trip to Cameron on Monday.

Toronto falls to Heartland

TORONTO — The Toronto girls basketball team dropped a 54-48 decision to visiting Heartland Christian on Thursday evening.

The Red Knights led 30-23 at halftime but the visitors out-scored them 31-18 in the second half to pull off the comeback.

Toronto is now 3-3 on the season.

Leading the Red Knights’ efforts were Josey Dickinson with 16 points and Jayna Reeves with 12 tallies.

Toronto takes a trip down Route 7 to battle Buckeye Local on Monday.

Panthers fall at home

CONNORVILLE — The Buckeye Local girls basketball team dropped a 50-23 decision to visiting River on Thursday.

Maddy Roset and Alyssa Dailey each netted 11 points for the Panthers.

Potters top Huskies

CADIZ — Visiting East Liverpool used a big third quarter to pull away from Harrison Central for a 58-35 victory Thursday evening.

The Huskies were led by Brady Elliott wwith 10 points.
