Red Knights top Buckeye Local for first win of season
TORONTO — The Toronto girls basketball team got into the win column in early season action on Wednesday, topping visiting Buckeye Local 51-29 inside the George J. Kunzler Gymnasium.
The Red Knights led 15-7 after one and extended the lead to 30-20 at halftime before out-scoring the Panthers 21-9 in the second half to put the victory away.
Tatum Derrington scored eight of her team-leading 17 points in the big second quarter, while JJ Rebich netted three first-half 3-pointers to finish with 14 points.
Josey Dickinson had eight points in the opening quarter to help the Knights (1-1) take the early lead, which they did not surrender, on the way to finishing with 11 points for three Toronto players in double figures.
Buckeye Local, which drops to 0-2, was led by 13 points from Maddy Roset.

Creek fall at Cambridge
CAMBRIDGE — The Indian Creek boys basketball team dropped a 69-49 decision on the road at Cambridge on Wednesday in its season opener.
The Bobcats held a narrow 18-15 lead after one and were ahead 34-27 at halftime, using a 21-point third quarter to pull away.
The Redskins were led by 14 points from Nick Eddy, while Mason Lester tallied nine points. Kyle Shultz and Caleb Bodo each netted seven points.
