Toronto volleyball team falls in sectional final to top-seeded Shenandoah

SHENANDOAH — The Toronto volleyball team’s season came to an end Saturday in the sectional finals.

The Red Knights, who were the No. 11 seed, fell in three sets, 25-21, 25-7, 25-14, at top-seed Shenandoah.

For Toronto, Taylle Thomas had 37 digs, Hannah Dobbs 11 kills and eight digs, Andrea Reeves 18 assists and six digs and Ashton Thomas four kills and eight digs.


Cambridge 2, Big Red 1 (SO)

CAMBRIDGE — The Big Red boys soccer team went on the road and nearly came up with another upset on Saturday, but saw its season end with a 2-1 loss in a shootout at Cambridge in a sectional final.

Coach Greg Bowers’ team was the No. 11 seed in the Division II, East 2 District bracket and had knocked off No. 8 Minerva before taking on the No. 4 seed Bobcats.

Dover 8, Harrison Central 0

DOVER — Harrison Central’s season came to an end with an 8-0 loss at Dover Saturday in a sectional final.

The Huskies were the No. 15 seed, while Dover is the No. 2 seed in the district. Earlier in the week, Harrison Central won its first tournament game in four years when it defeated Tri-Valley to earn Saturday’s sectional final appearance.
