Girls golf tourney set for today

The fourth-annual OV Athletics.com Girls Golf Tournament will be held today at Bloch Memorial Course at Wheeling Park.

A tournament-high 52 girls are registered to compete representing a record 17 schools who are members of the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference.

Seven of the top 10 girls from last year’s eighteen-hole tournament return. All told, there will be 37 varsity players.

Ten girls are registered for the nine-hole novice division.

Schools entering participants this year are: Barnesville, Edison, Fort Frye, John Marshall, Martins Ferry, Monroe Central, Morgantown, River, Shadyside, St. Clairsville, Union Local, University and Wheeling Central.

The tournament is organized by the John Marshall golf coaching staff of Dave Gaudino, Bridget Carnahan and August “Gus” Hanson and is sponsored by Undo’s Family Restaurants.

Creek parking plan announced

WINTERSVILLE — Indian Creek announced that due to limited on campus parking for its homecoming game on Friday against Bellaire, off campus parking will be available at Ferguson’s House of Furniture at 110 Main St., Wintersville. Buses will shuttle fans to and from the stadium at that location.
