Toronto scores 3 in the 10th, defeats Buckeye Local
CONNORVILLE — The Toronto softball team outlasted Buckeye Local, 9-6, in 10 innings on Wednesday
Andrea Reeves earned the victory in relief. She tossed three innings, allowed two hits and struck out one. Riley Kinsey pitched the first seven frames, allowed six hits and struck out six.
At the dish, Michelle Anderson tallied a single, double, triple and two runs batted in. Kinsey had two doubles, one triple and a pair of RBIs. Jenna Anderson singled four times and drove home one. Ashton Thomas added a pair of base knocks.
For the Panthers, Makaylee Meeks pitched the first five innings, allowed four hits and struck out seven. Samantha Ankrom finished in relief and took the loss, allowing seven hits and striking out a pair.
At the plate, Ankrom singled twice. Kirsten Faulkner produced a double and two RBIs. Josey Meddles also doubled.
Edison 15, Beaver Local 0
CALCUTTA — Holley Scott cranked two home runs and drove home four, while Pressley Meadows tossed a no-hitter during the Edison softball squad’s 15-0, five-inning victory over Beaver Local on Wednesday.
Alayna Meadows also homered. Mychi Stewart delivered a double and four runs batted in. Pressley Meadows had a triple and three RBIs. Rebecka Evans drove home a pair on three singles. Maddie Brenstuhl and Kiley Babel each recorded three hits.
In the circle, Pressley Meadows allowed two walks and struck out five in the complete-game effort.
Carrollton 9, Indian Creek 6
CARROLLTON — The Indian Creek softball team fell to Carrollton, 9-6, on Wednesday.
Carley Jo Penner started and picked up the loss, allowing nine runs (five earned) on eight hits, no free passes and struck out three in four innings. Trinity Taylor pitched the final two frames and allowed two hits and struck out another two.
Offensively, Maddy Ely produced two singles, one double and two RBIs. Alexis Dawson finished with a single, double and two RBIs. Emily Booth singled, doubled and drove home one. Taylor singled and tripled, while Lexi Smarella added a pair of base hits.
The Redskins tentatively host Beaver Local today, then Edison on Friday.
Beaver Local 13, Edison 12
CALCUTTA — Despite a strong comeback attempt, the Edison baseball team could not overcome a 10-run first inning during its 13-12 setback to Beaver Local on Wednesday.
The Wildcats used four pitchers, with Gage Cline starting and taking the loss in 2/3 of an inning. He singled, doubled and drove home one at the plate. Matt Parsons had two singles, a home run and three runs batted in. Ian McBane also had three hits and drove home a pair. Cam Cooley delivered two singles and two RBIs.
