WELLSBURG — The Brooke girls basketball team opened its season with a 72-22 defeat to Wheeling Park on Thursday.

Madison Platt led the Bruins with eight points, and Angelina Lippolli had seven.

For Park, Lindsey Garrison, Sophie Abraham and Bella Abernathy dropped 14 points apiece.

Brooke tentatively travels to Cameron on Saturday.
