WINTERSVILLE — The Indian Creek volleyball team won a Division II East 2 District sectional title with a 3-1 victory over East Liverpool on Thursday by scores of 25-15, 25-19, 17-25, 25-23.

Taylor Jones had 17 kills and two digs for the Redskins. Fellow senior Lexi Crane tallied eight kills, two digs and one ace. Olivia Wukelic produced seven kills, six digs and two aces. Lyndi Starkey had 19 assists and one dig, while Carley Penner added two kills, three aces and 16 assists.

“After the COVID outbreak last week, this win is huge for our girls,” head coach Molly Wilson said. “We had to sit out our OVAC semifinal game, and that really hurt. For the girls to bounce back and get this win, I couldn’t be happier for them.”

Indian Creek, the fifth seed, travels to face fourth-seeded John Glenn on Tuesday.
