Together We Care benefit soccer tourney slated Oct. 3
STEUBENVILLE — The eighth-annual Together We Care soccer tournament will be held Oct. 3 at Harding Stadium.
Boys and girls soccer teams from Catholic Central, Indian Creek, Edison and Steubenville Big Red will compete during the day while looking to build awareness and raise money to help area residents and families that are facing cancer.
In addition to the competition there will be drawings for school spirit baskets, a wine basket and a 50-50. All proceeds from the drawings, ticket sales, sponsorships and monetary donations will be presented to the Cancer Dietary Initiative, which provides nutritional needs to local cancer patients and their immediate families while they undergo treatment.
Every month, CDI distributes food items to more than 100 area patients.
During the last seven years, Together We Care has raised more than $135,000 to help local cancer patients. Area businesses have played a vital role in making this event a success, and organizers said they hope this support will continue throughout this year showing that we are all dedicated to helping those in our communities affected by this disease.
Gates will open at 9:15 a.m. The game schedule includes: 10 a.m., Indian Creek vs. Edison boys; noon, Central vs. Edison Girls; 2 p.m., Big Red vs. Central boys; 4 p.m., Big Red girls vs. Indian Creek girls.
Donations can be made by making a check payable to Cancer Dietary Initiative (with Together We Care in the memo line) and mailing it in care of Chris Hyland, 86532 North Bay Road, Scio, OH 43988.
Sponsorships remain available.
