Edison, Harrison, Buckeye eliminated
WEST LAFAYETTE — The Edison volleyball team was swept during the Division III sectional semifinals against fourth-seeded Ridgewood, 25-9, 25-12, 25-8, on Tuesday.
The Wildcats (8-15), who were the No. 13 seed, were eliminated.
Corinne Freeman tallied a point, three kills and one block. Karissa Speedy had 15 sets, one point and three assists. Mikayla Petrisko added a pair of points and seven hits.
Ridgewood advances to face fifth-seeded Cambridge on Thursday, who defeated No. 15 seed Martins Ferry, 25-6, 25-6, 25-6.
In other Division III action, No. 8 seed Harrison Central fell to ninth-seeded Garaway, 25-14, 25-16, 25-18.
Kobey Johnson had nine kills and 17 digs. Lexi Ferguson tallied 18 assists and 16 digs. McKayla Dunkle recorded six kills, while Maria Roush had five.
Garaway faces No. 7 seed West Muskingum on Thursday.
No. 16 seed Buckeye Local lost to top-seeded Hiland, 25-0, 25-3, 25-5, on Tuesday. Hiland faces No. 11 seed Coshocton next.
In regular-season action, Oak Glen defeated Weir High, 25-9, 25-9, 25-12 during the Golden Bears’ senior night.
Hannah Rogers had 12 kills, while McKayla Goodling tallied nine and Skye Stokes five. Jaedyn Hissam collected 32 assists. Brittney Giorgini added four digs.
