Red Riders stay unbeaten late

NEW MANCHESTER –The Weir High boys soccer team used a late goal on Monday evening to edge Oak Glen and stay undefeated.

With about two minutes to go, Jericho Givens scored off a corner kick by Jacob Morgan to break a scoreless tie and give the Red Riders the victory.

Weir High is now 8-0-1, while the Golden Bears fall to 4-4-3.

Jonanthan Howard made three saves for the shutout for Weir High.

Oak Glen’s Jacob Clark made 21 saves to keep the game scoreless until the late goal.

Both teams are back in action today.

Weir High returns home to host rival Brooke, while Oak Glen travels to Wellsville.

Weir High 6, Catholic Central 0

STEUBENVILLE — The Weir High girls soccer team used a pair of hat tricks to defeat Catholic Central on Monday.

Ava Taylor and Jules Gladowski each recorded three goals and an assist for the Red Riders, while Callie Wood and Madison Crowe each added an assist.

In goal, the Red Riders got four saves from Alexis Adams.

Bri DeChristopher made 12 saves for the Crusaders.

Weir High improves to 5-3-1 and faces Big Red tonight at Harding Stadium.
