Harrison Central leads first round of Buckeye 8

CADIZ — Harrison Central took the lead in the Buckeye 8 Championship after the first round Monday at Cadiz Country Club.

The Huskies shot a 348 to lead St. Clairsville (361) and Beaver Local (371).

Other local schools competing were Buckeye Local, which sits tied for fourth with a 389, Indian Creek seventh with a 432 and Edison, ninth with a 444.

For the Huskies, Sam Santille shot a n 84, Cruz Capers 86, Nick Coffland 89 and Jory Marvin 89.

The Panthers got a 93 from Bryan Blazeski and Dalton Watt, a 101 from Aiden Polanski and a 102 from Sean Kubic.

The Redskins were led by Justic Morris with a 93, Luke Merriman with a 102, Trevor Meek 116 and Mason Porter 121.

The Wildcats top score came from Geroge Ash with a 89, Andrew Pugh with a 90, Jared Smith 117 and Pam Johnson 148.

The second round takes place on Aug. 30 at Belmont Hills Country Club.

CCHS wins tri

STEUBENVILLE — The Catholic Central golf team defeated Weir High and Big Red Monday at Steubenville Country Club.

The Crusaders shot a 174, bettering the Red Riders’ score of 202 and Big Red’s 222.

Central’s Cole Tegano was the medalist with a 39. Luca Connor shot a 43, Brendan Schaeffer a 43 and Johnny O’Karma a 49.

For Weir High, Dom Simich shot a 44, Jude Smith a 52, Jasmine Tustin a 50 and Jesse Tustin a 56.

Big Red was led by Micah Krause with a 45, Carson Davis a 53, Olivia Gibas a 55 and Frankie Vostatek a 69.
