Redskins cruise by Oak Glen

MINGO JUNCTION — The Indian Creek baseball team scored at least one run in every inning during its 9-3 victory over Oak Glen on Tuesday.

Coy Amis started and picked up the win for the Redskins (6-5). He lasted six innings, walked four and struck out a dozen. Jacob Wright pitched the seventh.

Offensively, Klay Cottis tripled and drove in a pair. Tyler Smarrella and Josh Maurer each singled twice. Kody Cottis produced a double and an RBI. Richie Gualtiere and Colton Wietfeld each added a single and an RBI.

For the Golden Bears (6-5), Nick Chaney doubled and drove home all three runs. Konnor Kerr had three singles. Danny Bridges started and took the loss. He pitched the first four innings, walked two and struck out one. Chaney threw the final two frames, walking none and striking out one.

Oak Glen hosts Weir High today, while Indian Creek hosts Harrison Central.

EAST LIVERPOOL — A pair of five-run innings lifted the Madonna baseball team to a 13-1 victory over East Liverpool on Tuesday.

Dom Mazur started and picked up the win for the Blue Dons (11-12). He allowed one unearned run on two hits, no walks and struck out six. Matt Amaismeier led the offense with a single, double and four RBIs. Dylan McDaniels had two doubles and two RBIs. Luke Beatty had two singles, a double, walked once and drove home one. Gavin Dietrich added a single and two RBIs.

WEIRTON — The Weir High baseball team fell to John Marshall, 12-9, on Tuesday.

Sebastian Spencer had two singles, a home run and three RBIs for the Red Riders (8-9). Elijah Gillette crushed a solo homer. Tyler Komorowski produced a single, double and an RBI. Nick Paul added a double and an RBI.

On the mound, Tyler Kelly started and took the loss. He walked two and struck out four in 2 2/3 innings.

Weir is back in action today, traveling to rival Oak Glen.

TORONTO — Nate Karaffa’s big day paced the Toronto baseball team to a 15-5, five-inning victory over Lisbon on Tuesday.

Karaffa finished with three singles, a double and six RBIs. Nick Chetock had three singles, as well. Nick Sninchak singled, doubled and drove home four. He also picked up the victory on the mound, allowing two walks and striking out three in four innings.

The Red Knights (9-4, 7-1 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference) host East Liverpool today, looking to pick up more OVAC points before the cutoff. They currently are in third place behind Shadyside and Wheeling Central in Class 2A.
