The Wellsburg Middle School PTA will hold a Christmas Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the school, which is located at 1447 Main St.
Organizers said the event is a perfect opportunity to begin Christmas shopping, with a variety of household items, including jewelry and cooking items, as well as Christmas crafts suitable for gifts or for one's own decorating, for sale.
There also will be a Chinese auction.
Alpha Mu Chapter
The Oct. 13 meeting of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Alpha Mu Chapter, was held at the Amsterdam United Methodist Church with Darlene Smith, president, presiding.
Jan Primac of the hospitality committee read a poem entitled "Sick."
It was announced that copies of "The Voice" of Alpha Delta State are available online.
The personal growth and services project for October and the state 75th anniversary was collecting books for Ohio hospitals for children. Joyce Palmer thanked members who had donated books. The December project will be collecting items for nursing homes.
The professional affairs committee sponsored a fundraiser mystery package won by Ann Wiley.
The scholarship and world fellowship committee announced that the December fundraiser is "Make it, Bake it, Buy it."
Carole Thorne, membership committee chairman, presented the program.
Retirement gifts were presented to Julie Blanton, Barb Carter, Nancy Shuster and Dianne Casuccio.
Certificates of perfect attendance at meetings were presented to CarolynLee Barrett, Margery Gregg, Pat Hornberger, Christine Hull, Donna Iachini, Jane Karabaic, Julie Kirkpatrick, Palmer, Rose Seck, Smith and Cicely Worthington.

Ernie Thode will present German Genealogic Research at the Schiappa Branch of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Thode has been manager of the local history and genealogy department of the Washington County Public Library in Marietta since 1992. He holds degrees from Purdue University and a master's degree in German from Stanford University.
He has authored several books, including "German-English Genealogical Dictionary and Address Book for Germanic Genealogy." He is an author, lecturer and teacher whose ancestors come from Schleswig-Holstein and Hanover.
The presentation will cover beginning German research, German migration to America and questions and answers.

Vets encouraged to attend event
The Richmond American Legion Post 740, Honored Seven, will be participating in a Veterans Day program at Edison High School on Friday beginning at 9 a.m.
Commander Dan Vojvodich said veterans interested in participating are encouraged to assemble at the high school at 8:45 a.m. or gather at the Legion post on Legion Road, Richmond, at 8:30 a.m.
Holiday bazaar at
St. Thomas Episcopal Church located on Three Springs Drive, Weirton, is hosting a holiday bazaar Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There will be a luncheon with a choice of two sandwiches, two soups and a drink. Takeout will be available. There also will be crafts and baked goods for sale.
Recycling time for
The Buena Vista Residents group are reminded that the monthly recycle pickup is Thursday.
Items should be placed at curbside by noon on those days for pickup by volunteers between noon and 4 p.m.
Plastics and cans can be combined, but paper and plastic should not be mixed. Paper should be bundled in paper bags or cardboard. The pickup is not for glass or Styrofoam.
The monthly meeting will be at the Buena Vista United Methodist Church basement at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 14 and will be the Italian covered-dish night with participants asked to bring a favorite Italian side dish or dessert. Drinks will be provided.
