Strategy of obedience should be whole-hearted
Aretta Loving, looking at the back window, saw Jimmy, age 5, coming to the back porch.
She had finished painting the hand rails. She yelled to Jimmy, “Come around to the front door Jimmy, there is wet paint on the porch rails.”
“I’ll be careful,” Jimmy replied, not turning from the path.
“No Jimmy, don’t come up the stairs.”
Jimmy always messed things up. Jimmy started up the stairs and Aretta shouted, “I don’t want carefulness, I want obedience.”
Aretta thought most of us are like King Saul of the Old Testament; half-hearted obedience. She thought, how often I am like Saul wanting my own way. I’ll be careful as I start my own plans.
Obedience is the key to everything with God. Most of us resent it from time to time. So many struggles with the word obey. We struggle with Christianity because of it. Our conscience in our internal parts becomes so grieved, and we know what we did or said was wrong.
So many tortured souls with no freedom in this thing called churchianity rather than Christianity. Leaders want to be monuments of their church; instead, they become no more than tarnished trophies teaching their church the 10 suggestions.
“Oh, I’m all right, so you’re all right.”
And if there are any problems, just send them to the pill gold.
In Deuteronomy 30:19, it states, “I call heaven and earth as witness today against you that I have set before you life and death, blessing or cursing; therefore chose life, that both you and your descendents may live.” God is giving us the choice, life or death, you choose. I’ve heard so many people say, “I don’t know what to do.” Well, I’ll tell you what to do. Spend time with the Bible. Ninety percent of the answers you need are in there. Study, then pray, then meditate and make no moves until you have an answer. You will know deep inside of you the right answer.
We need to understand that life is a treasure hunt. Buried treasure is inside of you. The greatest adventure you will ever have in your life is to discover who you are, what you are, why you are and who God can be in you. When you let go and say to God, “I am ready to be the instrument of use you want me to be.”:
You have the unique talents and abilities necessary to fulfill your destiny in life. Listen to your dreams and follow the desires of your heart. Jesus is in it all the way. He is the one who instilled it in you.
What you are hearing and desiring is not yourself, it’s the king of all kings and the Lord of all Lords speaking to you through you through life. Be obedient to it. Grab the wind of the spirit and soar with it. It’s time to go forward and quit standing still. God is a go forward spirit. He wants to give us all more. It’s time to step on the world’s stage and become all we’re supposed to be. Be obedient; learn to obey.
