Trump nothing more than a con man

To the editor:

What has happened to our country?

A con man always knows his prey and where to find them. In this case the con man is Donald Trump, and his prey is the white supremacist insurgents like the ones who were arrested recently by the FBI’s Department of Justice and Michigan State Police for plotting to kidnap the governor of Michigan and overthrow the state government for ideological reasons. These bands of militants as described by Malcolm Nance, a former naval intelligence officer who has written many books on the subject of spying and terrorism, said “These white supremacist are America’s ‘Vanilla ISIS’ and Trump is their Al-Baghdadi.”

These white supremacist groups formed before Trump came on the scene. They were the guys who were so upset with having a black man in the Oval Office so much so that they began multiplying and recruiting more and more people to take up their cause. Their cause is to overthrow the government and kill policeman. But don’t take my word for it, look it up. And since they have formed hundreds of groups and bands around the country and the world like the Proud Boys and Boogaloo Boys they arm themselves to the hilt and are in a state of readiness awaiting a command to move. Whether Trump is complicit or an unwitting agent for them, it’s his words that set them off. He even proved it by giving them a message on live TV during the presidential debate with Biden when asked by the commentator if he would denounce white supremacist groups and he told them to “stand down and stand by.” Make no mistake about it — these bands are not law enforcement. They are insurgents, no different from the Taliban, and Trump is ready to dismantle democracy in order to stay in power.

It is hard to even recognize our country these days. If our country was a family it would be called dysfunctional. Our leader embraces our enemies, which compromises our national security. And, he can’t even bring himself to call the Michigan governor, Gretchen Whitmer, and ask “Are you OK” and “How is your family?” At a rally just last week he chuckled at the resounding cries from the crowd when he mentioned her name and they shouted that familiar chant “Lock her Up.” What has happened to our country? Voltaire wrote “Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.”

Meanwhile, Trump is dancing to Macho Man at mask-less rallies when more than 220,000 Americans have died.

If you have already voted, your work is not done. Help others to get to the polls. Let’s get Trump out of the White House because when he goes, with him goes Bill Barr, Mike Pompeo, Jared and Ivanka and possibly the biggest white supremacist in the White House, Stephen Miller, the architect of locking up children. Evil people lack awareness that they are evil. It’s up to us to weed them out.
