Laman party a success

To the editor:

The 41st-annual Ray Laman Children’s Christmas Party, held Dec. 14, at Wintersville Fire and Rescue, was another great success. All attending enjoyed the sing-along with guitarist Kenny Wells and son and danced with Frosty, Rudolph, the Grinch and Mrs. Claus before the arrival of Santa. Children received a free photo with Santa, gift bags of toys and a bag of fruit, snacks, coupons and toys.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their generous donations and ask that everyone reading this will patronize these businesses — without these merchants and caring citizens, this annual event would not be possible: American Legion Post 557; Tri-State Financial Services; Signs Ltd.; Neidengard’s Harley-Davidson Inc.; Wintersville Volunteer Fire Department; Freshwater Homes Inc.; FOP Lodge 97; village of Wintersville; First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union; Quik Mart and More Inc. DBA truck stop; State Park Motors Inc.; Wintersville Woman’s Club; L&J Bowers Inc.; Howard L. Bowers Contracting Inc.; attorney James J. Abrams; Houk Lawn Care Inc.; Colonial Baptist Church; Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Homes Inc.; Arby’s; Wendy’s; Giannamore’s Pizza; Wintersville Trophy Shop; Everhart-Bove Funeral Service Inc.; King’s Family Restaurant; Dr. William Grant; Ray’s Pizza; DaPeppino Inc.; and Wal-Mart Distribution Center No. 7017.

Caring citizens included Hilda Cowser; Ronald and Kathy Stinard; Michael and Vicky McQuistion; Bonnie Sanders; Edith Snodgress; Jack Kearney; Jerry and Eileen Krupinski; William and Mary Edwards; Dorette Boylan; the Synodinos family; Barbara A. Steele; Christine Antonelli; James and Joyce Kirkpatrick Jr.; Gloria Polk; Betty Jane Sparr; Rosalyn Karabaic; Joann and Russell Campbell; Daniel and MaryBeth Wilson II; Marlene and Joseph Boni; John and Rose DeFrank; Jack and Renate Perkins; Robert Patrick Jr.; Jack and Laura Gaylord; Anthony and Brenda Recinella; Toni L. Zajdowicz; James and Cheryl Kinney; Kevin Yost; Lee and Leiann Pownall; Spike and Christine Sterling; Florence Rakich; Rodney Baker; Jacqueline Longo; the Vandebornes and several anonymous donors.

I also would like to extend a special thank you to a hard-working crew of volunteers: Von Michael; Cindy Harda; Margaret Artman; members of the Wintersville Volunteer Fire Department; Kathleen “Cass” Miles; Pat Bozich; John Platzer; Mark Morrow; Wayne Harda; Barb Majewski; Patti Snider; and Joe McPhail. Music and instruments were provided by Kenny Wells and his son. And, an extra-special thanks to Cindy Harda for the beautiful scenery.

These people prove that the joy of living is in the giving.

Here’s wishing everyone a happy and prosperous new year.

And, remember: Mark Dec. 12 for the 42nd-annual Ray Laman Children’s Christmas Party.
