Area shined for Questers

To the editor:

Recently three local chapters of Questers hosted the Ohio Fall Conference of Questers in Steubenville.

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the many folks who helped make the conference a success. First to the members of Bezaleel Wells Chapter, the Edwin M. Stanton Chapter and President Becky Swickard, who served as conference chair, and De-He-Wa-Mis Chapter and President Mary Jane Ighnat president — these ladies all worked together and did their parts.

Thank you also to the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce, Steubenville Convention and Visitors Bureau, Franciscan University of Steubenville and the Clark Gable Foundation for the promotional material in the gift bags. Also, a big thank you to Judy Bratten, executive director of the Historic Fort Steuben, and Steubenville Mayor Jerry Barilla, who went above and beyond to make the reception extra special. We owe them a debt of gratitude.

Thanks also to Nelson Fine Art and the Jefferson County Historical Museum for opening their venues to conduct tours for our out-of-town guests. We also appreciate Darlene Baker for her beautiful music during our reception and luncheon, Judy Irvin for supplying our programs and Frances Hughes for the lovely fall table decorations and displays. And, a special thanks to Jefferson County Common Pleas Judge Michelle Miller for her inspirational talk on the woman’s suffrage movement, and to Froehlich’s Classic Corner for the delicious luncheon and excellent service.

Lastly thank you to Janice Kiaski and the Herald-Star for their coverage of this event.

Finally, we are grateful to the state organization for giving our local chapters the opportunity to proudly showcase the historic significance of our Ohio Valley.
