Buckeye bash was a success

To the editor:

We would like to begin by expressing our deepest gratitude to all the wonderful people who made our Buckeye Local Back-to-School Bash a success.

Prior to the bash, Team B.L.U.E. had erected its new high school sign that the members had purchased at the entrance of county Road 14 and state Route 151. We would like to thank Luke Parsons, Jason Kovalski, Greg Glover and Chris Doty for getting that task accomplished.

The bash brought in more than 400 people with bags of supplies given out to about the same number of students. Because of the generosity of people who donated supplies, money, time and hard work, it truly was a beautiful day. Thank you to the following: Brilliant Lions Club; Wheeler Funeral Home; American Legion Post 573; Brilliant First United Presbyterian Church Women’s Service Committee; VFW Post 4811, Yorkville; Tiltonsville United Methodist Church; Meadowbrook Church; and Yorkville Methodist Church.

We especially would like to thank two hard-working and very helpful Wal-Mart workers — Will and Noxolynn — who helped us to gather all the supplies that we needed, and to Joe Malechowski, who organized the vendors. The vendors that helped make our bash a success were: Sweet Dyes; Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority; Family Recovery; U.S. Borne Books; the Dippy Blonde; West Elementary PTO; North Elementary PTO; South Elementary PTO; Buckeye Local cheerleaders; the Buckeye Local football team; the Buckye Local French Club; the Buckeye Local track team; Buckeye Parent Involvement; South Elementary Playground Committee; JB Green Team; Wal-Mart Vision; Warren Township Lions Club; Jefferson County Behavioral/Mental Health; Peoples National Bank; face painting; Cardinal Plant; Origami Owl; Lil Sheep Country; Stella and Dot; Paparazzi; and Mary Kay.

Thank you to all the staff that helped set up and tear down and came to the event. The purpose is to help students start out on the right foot and have supplies to get them started. The generosity of our communities is overwhelming. Thank you to all — and we hope that we did not miss someone in the accolades.

Together we are Buckeye Local.
