Amsterdam embraces outreach of mayor
To the editor:
June 28 was the date — Rogers Park in Amsterdam took on a new life. The beautiful setting enjoyed by local residents exploded with fun and activities, as more than 600 people of all ages came together for a nostalgic afternoon with family and friends.
Bouncy houses, music, vendors, crafts and booths providing free treats including sno-cones, cotton candy, popcorn, hot dogs, chips, water and even mini-doughnuts that were enjoyed by all.
Each child in attendance also received a back-to-school item.
Thank you to Mayor Jim Phillips and the entire 137 families of Amsterdam for their gift to this community of the first back-to-school celebration.
