Help with park appreciated

To the editor:

I want to convey a sincere thank-you to two South Enders for their efforts with Beatty Park. Dave Albaugh and Gabe Nelson recently responded to near flood conditions at the park. They provided their own equipment and manpower to form a trench to divert water away from the roadway there. They were successful in avoiding the flooding of the nearby restrooms. Their efforts with this endeavor came at zero cost to the city.

I would be remiss if I did not provide a thank-you to Jody Glaub, who again is providing financial support for maintenance and materials to enhance the entrance to Beatty Park.

It is encouraging to see present and former South End residents understand the importance of giving back and reacting in a positive manner to the needs of our city. Their responses provide a model for what it means to illustrate community pride. Hopefully, other city residents will respond in a similar fashion in the near future.
