Letter statement of a theocrat

To the editor:

The arrogance of ignorance is in full display in Barry Bardone’s letter to the editor of May 5 (“Progressives are way off base.”)

He begins with the statement “… without God there’s no morality.” This is the statement of a theocrat who is about two steps from being the American Taliban.

The idea that in order to have morals you must be religious not only flies in the face of the Constitution but is incredibly weak-minded. Thomas Jefferson would either be appalled or amused by such a comment.

The irony and hypocrisy of statements like these are lost on someone who supports a man who separates children from their families and steals from charities intended to benefit veterans and children with cancer. You don’t have to be religious to know that these actions are not those of a moral person but instead are actions of someone who is either immoral or even amoral.

In addition to all of this, a statement by nearly 500 former federal prosecutors conveys that if the Mueller report referred to anyone other than a president, that person would have been indicted for multiple counts of obstruction of justice. Trump is the worst of the worst.
