Good neighbors send thanks

To the editor:

I would like to thank all of the Wintersville area “friends,” who wonderfully helped in any way to make our 2018 Christmas program in Wintersville a success.

Dozens of concerned citizens from our churches, schools, businesses, civic organizations, social clubs and just those who wanted to help made it possible for 75 families with 160 children to have a very merry Christmas.

Special thanks to the Wintersville United Methodist Church for the use of its beautiful facility to sort, pack and distribute the food and toys to our families.

Our sincere thanks to our toy coordinator, Kitty Ferguson, who spends countless days and hours directing, organizing and wrapping the many toys for the children in the Christmas program.

Thanks to the Wintersville businesses — Kroger, Big Lots and Dollar General — which provided space for our toy collection boxes.

A job well done by manager Nick Crites and employees Brenda Boyd, James Vucosky, Dan Chivers and Dwane Allen of the Wintersville Kroger, who organized our large food order in a correct and timely fashion.

A heartfelt thanks for those who helped with the monetary donations, food, toys or unselfish labor to make all of this happen. And, as always, thanks to Sis Brannon, who collects a large assortment of toys all year for our Christmas program.

Thanks also to Deborah Oberman of Toys for Tots for a large donation of new toys; Ken Cornish, who for 36 years has organized our faithful delivery team for our shut-ins and seniors who cannot come to the pickup; the Wintersville United Methodist Youth Group; the Wintersville United Methodist Women; the Wintersville United Methodist Men’s Club; the Wintersville United Methodist Active Adults; the Word of Life Fellowship Youth Group; and the Wintersville Woman’s Club.

Special thanks go to our faithful major donors, including our secret Santa; the Indian Creek Elementary PTO; Wintersville American Legion Post 557; Wintersville American Legion Auxiliary; Wintersville Woman’s Club; Word of Life Fellowship; Tom and Lori Galbreath; Mary Kay Schultz; Jim and Dianne Slater; Academy of Tae Kwon Do; the Starkdale Presbyterian Outreach Committee; and the Starkdale Presbyterian dart baseball group.

May God bless you for the new year.

Jerry Boyd
