Trinity helped in time of need

To the editor:

Trinity Health System has come a long way.

The incredible services they provide now, with the personal and caring touch is just outstanding.

My parents were visiting from Brazil and my father got very sick. We called an ambulance on Oct. 25, they came promptly, then our eight-day journey with Trinity began.

It’s hard to describe in words how grateful we truly are for everything they did for my dad.

We were treated with the utmost respect and professionalism, yet they were all so nice and kind.

My dad was basically dying, after the doctors and staff performed the proper tests, and they left no stone unturned. They said he had an artery blockage, but because he has a chronic liver disease it was very dangerous to have catheterization in his condition.

Furthermore his kidneys were failing, but Dr. Ramana Murty (a cardiologist), together with Dr. Preethy Murty (a nephrologist) along with Dr. Patricia Khalil (a nephrologist) were working closely together to decide the best decision to be made, while closely monitoring him.

So, more tests were performed by these amazing doctors.

Finally, six days on our journey at Trinity, Murty said he was confident that my dad would survive and do much better if we proceeded with this catheterization. They even spoke to his doctor in Brazil to share opinions and keep him updated on everything.

Incredible is the word to describe Trinity and its doctors, nurses, technicians, nutritionists, phlebotomists, transporters and the entire staff.

My dad had the main artery to his heart almost completely blocked. Dr. Murty made my mom and I feel so confident that this was the right decision.

After the procedure he met us at reception and gave us a comforting hug and said “Well, he’s going to be fine.”

We were so relived. What a kind and wonderful doctor. He saved my dad’s life.

We really wanted our community to realize how Trinity is operating, how everyone is so impressively concerned to make sure our needs are met. All they wanted was for us to feel confident and sure that they would provide us with the best care available, and they delivered.

We live in a beautiful small town, and often we go to another state for health care, so we thought we’d let Steubenville know that some of the best doctors, nurses and staff are in our backyard, waiting to help us.

My dad is back in Brazil, he’s feeling so much better, and we do not have enough words to thank all of you at Trinity — I wish I could put all of your names down, because we became so fond of all of you.

Members of the Cunha and Rogers families are confident that Trinity is giving the word hospital its true meaning.
