Annual Laman party planned

To the editor:

Just a reminder that the 40th-annual Ray Laman Children’s Christmas Party will be held a the Wintersville Fire Department Garage from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Children must be accompanied by an adult. They will be entertained with a sing-along with Kenny Wells, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, elves and Mrs. Claus before the arrival of Santa.

This is one of the largest community events in the area for children under the age of 10, and is open to neighboring areas, not just Wintersville. We are a nonprofit organization funded solely through donations of area merchants and caring citizens. For some children, this is their only Christmas, so we try to keep the gift bags nice and plentiful. Without more donations, this is getting harder to do because annual costs keep rising.

We urge everyone reading this to open their hearts and wallets for area children. Without your generosity, this event cannot be made possible. We do not want to cut back on the size, quantity or quality of gifts.

Donations and comments can be sent to the Ray Laman Children’s Fund, 60 Pioneer Drive, Wintersville, OH, 43953; by contacting me at (740) 264-2161; or at the Wintersville Police Department, 200 Grove St. Donations must be received by Thursday to make the program. May this year’s event make the holidays happier for a whole lot of children. Happy holidays.
