Beth DiGregorio, a beloved educator and community advocate affectionately known as “Miss D.” to generations of students and colleagues, passed away July 16, 2025, at the age of 94 in her hometown of Weirton, West Virginia.

Born on June 30, 1931, at her family’s home in Weirton, Beth was the eldest of four children of the late Domenic and Lena Buracchio DiGregorio. A proud graduate of Weir High School, she embarked on a lifelong journey in education that touched thousands of lives.

After high school, she pursued higher education in California, earning her associate degree in arts from Compton Junior College. She later returned home to complete her Bachelor of Arts at West Liberty State College and her master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh.

Beth dedicated an extraordinary 50 years of her life to teaching English at Weir High School, beginning in 1954. She was the founder of the Forget-Me-Not Twig and a longtime member of St. Theresa’s Guild. She also served as president of the Hancock County Federation of Democratic Women’s Clubs and held various roles in the Junior Department of the Weirton Women’s Club. Her statewide influence included service as State Chair for Membership of the International Clubs Council and the Pan-American Scholarship Committee.

A devout Catholic, she was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, The Christian Mothers, the Adult Sodality of Queen of Peace, and was a dedicated supporter of Weirton Madonna High School. At Madonna, she taught and served as acting principal for the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine for public high school students.

Beth also gave generously of her time to the Weirton Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bernard “Buddy D.” DiGregorio; her sister and brother- in-law, Leanora “Babe” Olashuk and John “Gene” Olashuk; and her brother-in-law, Paul T. Duffy, Sr.

Her legacy will live on in the countless lives she shaped, the communities she strengthened, and the generations she inspired.
