Doris Jean (Shannon) McTheny, of Jewett, OH passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020 in Mullins, South Carolina.
She was born February 21, 1934 in Toronto, OH, the daughter of the late Freeman T. and Jennie Belle (Harris) Shannon.
Doris Jean was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W., American Legion, and former member of the Toronto Fraternal Order of Eagles 1276 Auxiliary in Toronto, and Dillonvale V.F.D. Dillonvale, OH.
She was a homemaker and former employee at Big Country Bar and Grille in Toronto, OH, and Carrollton Graphics.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold C. McTheny, whom she married December 28, 1951; daughter, Hazel Homol and her husband, Paul; brothers, Elmer, Jesse, and Harley Shannon; and sisters, Edna Striker, Mary Peterson, and Hazel Shannon.
She is survived by her son, Harold (Martha) McTheny of Mullins, SC; daughters, Roxanne (Dan) Swank of Wardensville, WV, Ruby (William) Cahill of Front Royal, VA; sisters, Florence Louise Kestner of Steubenville, OH, Delores Ellen Beadnell of Amsterdam, OH; 14 grandchildren; 26 great- grandchildren; six great- great-grandchildren.
Visitation hours for Doris Jean will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2020, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., and Wednesday July 1, 2020 from 10-11 a.m. at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto, OH.
A celebration service honoring Doris Jean’s life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Clarke Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Westling officiating.
