Mary Householder

Mary Anne Householder, 91, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 20, 2019, at Weirton Geriatric Center.

Born February 22, 1928, in Steubenville, OH, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Helen Filipovich.

Also preceding her in death, was her husband, Jay C. Householder; three infant children; sister, Helen; brothers, Harry and Steve Filipovich, John Phillips; and son-in-law, Nick Zatezalo, Jr.

She was a member of The First United Methodist Church, AARP, and Steubenville Art Association. She loved to paint and enjoyed many classes and presentations on different kinds of art. She also volunteered during the SAA’s art shows. Mary had a passion for loving. Loving her family, her friends, her church, her art, baking, sewing, cooking, and helping others. She loved decorating for church functions and totally enjoyed when it was her turn to hostess at the SAA.

A marvelous baker, she placed several times through the years at the Wellsburg Applefest Pie Contest, winning first place a few times. Crafting was also a hobby, making several different craft items for family and to sell at crat shows. However, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was what she loved most. She was lovingly referred to as Grandma Mary to all who knew and loved her.

Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Becky Zatezalo; and son, Jay G. Householder, both of Weirton, WV; as well as former daughter-in-law, Linda Daugherty of Toronto, OH; four grandchildren, Joshua Householder, Jaime (Steve) Youst, Lindsay (Mike) Kalata, and Jesse (Danielle) Householder; ten great-grandchildren, Rory, Cady and Penny Youst, Nicholas and Maximus Kalata, Wyatt and Summer Householder, Autumn Brown, Jay and Paislee Householder; her sister-in-law, Marion Householder also survives.
