Perry Jeter Sr.

Perry Jeter Sr. is proceeded in death by his mother, Pastoria Dove and twin brother, Larry Jeter, Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mildred C. Jeter, of 52 years. From this union, three children, Jeffrey, Robyn and Perry, Jr, all of OH; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Perry was a Christian by faith and Deacon Emeritus of Mount Carmel Community Baptist Church. After graduating Steubenville High School, Perry attended San Bernardino Valley College in San Bernardino, CA, and California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA, where he played football.

He was later drafted and played for the Chicago Bears, from 1956-1957, before a career injury.

Upon returning to Steubenville, Perry returned to college and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Kent State University. He holds numerous football records in high school, college and the NFL.

Prior to retiring from Steubenville City Schools, Perry coached track, football and basketball.

Since his retirement, Perry has been inducted into collegiate Hall of Fames. In 2016, he was inducted into the Wheeling Ironman Hall of Fame.

Perry fought a good fight by succumbing to the devasting effects of Alzheimer Disease, which has crippled thousands in contact sports.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Mount Carmel Community Baptist Church, 708 North 5th Street, in Steubenville, on Friday, May 24, 2019, with a funeral service immediately following at 1 p.m. Interment at Union Cemetery.
