Vern M. Wiant, 66, of Hammondsville, OH, passed away suddenly Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018 in the Trinity Medical Center West ER in Steubenville, OH.
Vern was born April 5, 1952 in Steubenville, son of the late Eugene and Dixie (Lawrence) Wiant.
He was retired from the Weirton Steel Corp. where he worked in the Tin Mill. Vern loved to trap shoot, fish and practice martial arts. He was a long time girls’ softball coach in Hammondsville and a former vol. ambulance driver for TEMS in Toronto.
Vern leaves behind his wife, Darlene (Saltsman) Wiant whom he married Jan. 5, 1976; his two daughters, Crystal (Jason) Grubbs of Lisbon, OH and Ginger Wiant of Hammondsville; his two brothers, Rick (Barb) Wiant and Marty Wiant both of Toronto; his grandchildren, Dustin Beadnell, Jordan Walter and Gwendalynn Grubbs.
Family and friends will be received Saturday, October 13 from 1 – 4 p.m. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto.
His funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. with Pastor Ron Blakeman officiating.
