John O’Brien

John T. “Jack” O’Brien, Jr., 85, of Mingo Jct,. OH, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, OH.

He was born December 2, 1932 in Steubenville, Ohio, the son of the late John T. O’Brien, Sr. and Harriett Jean (McConnell) O’Brien

Jack was a 1950 graduate of Steubenville High School and was a graduate of Jefferson Technical Community College with an Associate Degree in industrial engineering. He retired from the Weirton Steel Company as a supervisor in the Service and Maintenance department.

Jack enjoyed sports at a young age and played basketball, bowling and also fast pitch softball. He was a member of two local street rod clubs and enjoyed attending car shows and cruises and enjoyed reading, travel and physical fitness.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley M. (Feth) O’Brien in 2002 whom he married June 26, 1965; and sisters, Mary Ione Michael and Trudy Clopinstine.

Jack is survived by nieces, Devonne Graham of Anaheim, CA, Virginia J. (John) Denton of Ely, NV; nephews, Raymond (Karen) DeSimone, Ronald DeSimone and Richard DeSimone all of Wintersville, OH and Thomas Graham of Ely, NV.

Visitation hours for Jack will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 21st at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto, OH.

A celebration service of Jack’s life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 22nd at the funeral home with the Reverend Susan Clegg officiating. Interment will follow at the Toronto Union Cemetery.
