Nick Iannetti Jr.

Nick Iannetti Jr., 78, of Burgettstown, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born on July 9, 1939, a son of the late Nick and Elizabeth Repole Iannetti.

A 1957 graduate of the Union High School in Burgettstown, he also earned a degree in horticulture from Penn State University in 1961.

Mr. Iannetti was the co-owner of Iannetti’s Garden Center. He and his brother Chirp helped build a successful business that still serves the Tri-State Area. It was very important for Nick to give back to his community as evidenced by the many projects and donations he made in the area. In 2004, he was awarded the Humanitarian Award by the Antonio Meucci Lodge of the Sons of Italy for the many contributions and community projects made by Iannetti’s Garden Center. In 1988 Nick was named Pennsylvania Flower Grower of the Year by the PA Flower Growers.

Besides working at the garden center daily, Nick’s passion was plants; he was a true plant man. He was always working in his garden, yard or planning a new project. Nick liked to keep up to date on the horticulture industry and was always reading about how to make the business better. He most enjoyed Sunday spaghetti dinners with his entire family and all the laughter, conversation and good food.

Nick was a parishioner of the Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Burgettstown, the Weirton Elks and the Weirton Knights of Columbus.

His high school sweetheart and wife of 58 years, Stephana Mis Iannetti, whom he married on December 31, 1959, survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his two daughters, Patricia Kofmehl and husband Raymond and Annette Iannetti; his four grandchildren Leah and Marisa Kofmehl, and Scott and Ryan Weaver; and brothers Carl “Chirp” Iannetti and wife Christine and Joseph Iannetti and wife Dorothy.
