Hundreds gathered at the Berkman Amphitheater in Fort Steuben Park to listen to the Fort Steuben Concert Series’ A Rat Pack Tribute and the Vince Villanova Big Band in honor of the 29th-annual Dean Martin Hometown Festival. The outdoor entertainment kicked off three days of events and activities being held throughout Steubenville to pay tribute to the city’s favorite son. Activities planned for today include: The Dean Martin Association’s Charity Golf Scramble, 8:30 a.m. at Steubenville Country Club; an Open House, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Jefferson County Historical Museum, 426 Franklin Ave.; Dean Martin Exhibit, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Historic Fort Steuben Visitor Center; Dean Martin Classic Car Cruise, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Historic Fort Steuben; and a showing of the Rat Pack film “Ocean’s 11,” at 7 p.m., Sycamore Youth Center, 301 N. Fourth St. On Saturday, events will include the annual Dino Dash 5K, 9 a.m., Beatty Park, 621 Lincoln Ave., registration begins at 7:30 a.m.; Dean Martin Hometown Celebration Parade, noon, along North Fourth Street; Downtown Trolley Rides, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Fort Steuben Park; Martin & Lewis Telethon-Style Reunion Show, charity auction hosted by Joe Scalissi and Matt Macis, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Green Space, Franciscan Square; Dean Martin Memorabilia Auction, 7 p.m, Spot Bar, 217 S. Fourth St.; and a Dean Martin Karaoke Competition, featuring the Out Late Band, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Fourth Street Stage. — Julie Stenger
