Woman charged after alleged assault

WELLSBURG — A Wellsburg woman has been charged with malicious wounding for allegedly punching a man and striking him with a pry bar.

Jesse M. Coen, 33, of 18 Lemon Lane, faces the charge in Brooke County Magistrate Court, where her case is pending.

According to the criminal complaint filed against her, Coen punched a man known to her in the face multiple times, then used a foot-long wrench-style pry bar to strike him in the face, causing him to fall and damaging his eye.

Brooke County sheriff’s deputies said a witness told them Coen and the man had been arguing when the man called her a derogatory term.

They said Coen told them the man had punched her in the face, but they noticed no injuries to her.
