County to seek bids for bridge replacement
STEUBENVILLE — A bridge on Township Road 472 is going to be replaced.
Jefferson County Bridge Engineer Kara Bernhart was authorized this week to advertise for bids for the project, which will replace the existing one-lane span with a two-lane, steel-beam bridge on reinforced concrete abutments. The engineer’s estimate is just over $772,098.
S.T.A.R.T., Mingo Junction, also was tapped for the County Road 11 bridge replacement, an Ohio Public Works Commission-funded project. S.T.A.R.T. submitted a base bid of $661,449, well under the engineer’s estimate of $747,600, so the company also was authorized to perform an additional $11,874 in bid alternates.
The county also will participate in ODOT’s winter contract for road salt.
A proposal for renewing an agreement with Lamar companies for signs on county property was referred to the prosecutor’s office for review of terms, which include making it a 15-year deal.
