Save the service

Individuals demonstrated during a Save the Postal Service rally at the Jefferson County Courthouse Sunday. Hosted by the National Association of Letters Carriers Steubenville and Martins Ferry branches, the rally saw postal workers, customers and other supporters protest perceived threats to the service by the current presidential administration, including privatization, service cuts and the ending of collective bargaining rights. The rally in Steubenville was held in conjunction with similar demonstrations by NALC branches nationwide, and featured remarks from Roger Keyes, president of NALC Branch 1061 of Martins Ferry, and Ron Green, vice president and former president of NALC Branch 164 Steubenville. Among those participating were, from left, Abbie Gibbs, Diane Twarog, Christopher Dilly and Michael McClaskey, all members of Service Employees International District 1199, which covers Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky. — Christopher Dacanay
